    I realised that I am usually the negative sponge, soaking up the negative feelings of others.
    To take whatever that's thrown this way, to suck it up. But that's as much as what a sponge can do.
    A sponge can only make others feel better when they're feeling negative.
    i.e. depressed --> neutral

    but a sponge can't make others feel happy when they are in the neutral state.
    that is the sad fact

    worse to happen when a sponge becomes saturated. in all cases, over time, it would dry off and be ready to suck more up, but there are times when there are too many things at a single go.

    No one likes to squeeze a sponge dry, to relieve it of its burdens.

    That in itself, is another inescapable fact...
